Arkansas Realtors Association Releases December and 2011 Home Sale Figures

The Arkansas Realtor’s Association (ARA) released year-end figures for home sales in that state this week.

Overall, the state saw drops in the total numbers and dollar amounts sold during the month with a 2% increase in average home price compared to December 2010.  For 2011 versus 2010, the state saw drops in all three categories.  The total units sold in the state for last year was 0.64% less than 2010, the total dollar amount rang up 1.9% less than the previous year, and the average home price for last year fell 1.2% from 2010.

For counties in the Ozarks, only Boone’s totals fell below for the month comparing 2011 to 2010.  Baxter and Marion saw mixed results with 3.77% more units sold and a -2.05% drop in dollars.  Boone had -13.64% fewer homes sold resulting in -39.31% fewer dollars for the month.  Carroll saw a 46.15% increase in the total units and a 54.21% increase in dollars for the month.  Comparing 2011 to 2010, Baxter and Marion saw -1.28% fewer units and -0.11% fewer dollars, Boone saw -4.78% fewer units and -7.57% fewer dollars, and Carroll saw -3.52% fewer units and -16.4% fewer dollars.

Average home prices in those counties for the year were mixed.  In Baxter and Marion counties, the average home price was up 1.18%.  In Boone County, the average home price fell 2.93%.  In Carroll County, the average home price fell 13.35%.
