An internal audit of the Missouri State University band has uncovered some issues. The Springfield News Leader is reporting that auditors found that the program failed to collect fees from all its members, and that a handful of band members were not enrolled in class in the fall of 2010.
Auditors also found that several band members received grants, even though they did not meet academic requirements.
A representative for the music department at Missouri State has promised to fix the problems and tighten controls of the band program.
