Harrison P.D. Solves Local Burglary in Less than 24 Hours
A break-in early Tuesday morning at Miller’s Saw Shop was an open and shut case. Harrison Police solved the case in a matter of hours, having a suspect in custody by the afternoon.
39-year-old Barry Wayne Jarrett was arrested after investigators, acting on a tip, went to the Ozark Mountain Inn and spoke with witnesses claiming Jarrett had asked for a ride Monday night. Jarrett was allegedly dropped off in front of Edwards Grocery about 9:50 p.m. Monday, with bolt cutters and a crow bar in his possession, according to the affidavit.
Investigators spoke with Jarrett at his motel room, and upon leaving alerted Jarrett, that he had been witnessed being dropped off near the break-in site with tools. Jarrett then confessed to his boss having the stolen items, but declined to name his boss.
Detectives deduced that the stolen merchandise was likely hidden nearby, and located the items hidden in brush, along the banks of Crooked Creek.
KHOZ.com questioned Assistant Harrison Police Chief Sam Martin concerning the success of the investigation:
An arrest affidavit stated that three chainsaws and two concrete saws had been stolen. The tools were valued at about $5,000. Jarrett was taken into custody and faces charges of commercial burglary, theft of property and criminal mischief. His bond was set at $50,000.
