House Speaker John Boehner appointed Congressman Steve Womack yesterday to the United States Military Academy Board of Visitors. Womack is one of four House members appointed to the board.
The Board of Visitors inquires into the morale and discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods, and other matters relating to the academy that the board decides to consider.
Prior to his retirement from the National Guard, Womack commanded the 233rd Regiment—the Regimental Training Institute for Arkansas—including the state’s Officer Candidate School. He previously served as the Executive Officer of the University of Arkansas Army ROTC program from 1990-1996. Womack, himself, is a product of ROTC, having received his commission from Arkansas Tech University in 1979.
