Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is looking for a new Director of Economic Development for the state.
Jason Hall, his most recent nominee, has resigned. This after the State Senate’s Gubernatorial Appointments Committee couldn’t make a decision on whether to confirm Hall before the constitutional deadline for approval passed.
Hall’s nomination had extensive support throughout the state from several Chambers of Commerce, and other business groups.
In a news release, Governor Nixon said the Senate’s inaction will not dissuade him from continuing to work with business and community leaders to create jobs and keep the economy moving forward.
Chris Pieper has been named acting director of the department, while the Governor conducts a search for a new nominee.
