A new preparatory lab school at College of the Ozarks received the endorsement of former First Lady Laura Bush on Thursday as formal dedication ceremonies were held in the auditorium at School of the Ozarks.

Bush said the curriculum and character of School of the Ozarks reflects the United States founders’ characteristics of strong faith and hard work.

Bush commented on the fact that students at the new school receive not only a grade point average, but also a work point average and a character point average.

Also receiving special recognition were General Terrence Dake, Lt. General Gary Hughey, Major General Jerry Ragsdale, Brigadier General Tommy Bell, and Private First Class Roy Hopper -- each alumni of the former School of the Ozarks, which was renamed College of the Ozarks.

Mrs. Bush also addressed college students and members of the public at a community convocation Thursday evening.
