Two oncology nurses at Skaggs Cancer Center are honored by their peers for their outstanding work in oncology, the branch of medicine that focuses on cancer.
Debby Fryer, RN, OCN is the recipient of the 2012 Lifetime Achievement award from the Oncology Nursing Society. Fryer has been an oncology nurse at Skaggs Cancer Center in Branson, MO since 1996. This honor recognizes her dedication to the area of oncology and education of patients.
“Debby was instrumental in the growth and success of the Skaggs Cancer Center,” says Ben Morris, Director of Skaggs Cancer Center. “She continually researches new and improved oncology nursing practices to ensure we’re providing the most advanced care possible for our cancer patients.”
Eddie Paulson, RN, BSN at Skaggs Cancer Center is the 2012 Rookie of the Year. This award from the Oncology Nursing Society is for a nurse new to oncology. She was nominated by a co-worker for being a strong patient advocate. “Paulson goes the extra mile to ensure our patients understand their treatment plan,” explains Jamille Twedt, RN, OCN, Skaggs Cancer Center. Paulson is currently studying for her oncology nursing certification.
