Sparta Man Faces Manslaughter Charge

A man from Sparta was taken into custody following a three-car crash in which a 3-year old boy was killed.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 33-year-old John Clark of Sparta lost control of his car while eastbound on Highway 14 a mile east of Nixa around 4:40 Tuesday afternoon, and slid into the path of a westbound SUV, which was hit from behind by another car.  According to the report, authorities arrested Clark for alleged felony involuntary manslaughter.

Three-year-old Kohen Clark was pronounced dead at 6 p.m.

According to the report, John Clar k received treatment for moderate injuries.  His passenger, 22-year-old Katelynn Melton of Sparta, received serious injuries in the crash.  Jane Baker of Clever and two children received treatment for minor to moderate injuries. 

All three drivers were tested for alcohol.
