Stewart Hopkins has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of his former wife, 42-year old Stacy Birmingham of Omaha.

Hopkins was found guilty by a Taney County jury on September 4^th of first degree murder and armed criminal action. 

Birmingham was found dead in October of 2010 in a guest room at a Branson motel.  The coroner ruled she died of blood loss due to a stab wound to the neck.  Hopkins was arrestsed 12 horus later in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Hopkins' trial lasted six days, with the jury deliberating five and a half hours before returning a verdict.

Hopkins and Birmingham had one child who is now living with family members.
