The Tri-Lakes United Way, the local affiliate of United Way of the Ozarks” awarded five grants totaling more than $16,000 to local non-profit agencies on Saturday, in conjunction with Branson Public School’s “Cedar Ridge Run for United Way.”
Jennifer Kennally, CEO of United Way of the Ozarks, took a few minutes to thank all of the school staff, volunteers and runners that had gathered for the 5K race and kids fun run. This is the second year the Branson Public School employees have participated in a week-long effort geared at raising funds to benefit local non-profits across Taney and Stone Counties through Tri-Lakes United Way.
Presenting the grant awards on behalf of Tri-Lakes United Way were David Cook, Tri-Lakes United Way Advisory Board Chairman, and Rick Ziegenfuss, Tri-Lakes United Way 2012 Campaign Chairman. Receiving grant funds during this semi-annual presentation were: Christian Associates of Table Rock Lake ($4,000), Christian Action Ministries ($4,000), Gift of Hope ($4,000), Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland ($2,536), and Junior Auxiliary of Taney County ($1,500). Ziegenfuss stated that these grants represent the collective generosity of each and every one of the individuals gathered for the 5K event that morning, as well as gifts from donors throughout our community.
Since its first grant presentation in September 2011, Tri-Lakes United Way has awarded more than $51,000 in grant funds to 13 local non-profit organizations who meet basic health and human service needs of individuals and families in this community. An Advisory Board made up of community leaders who are focused on making a positive impact in this area guides the fundraising efforts for the Tri-Lakes United Way, while a volunteer Allocations Panel reviews grant applications and makes funding recommendations semi-annually.
