The suspect in an almost fatal shooting near Harrison, Arkansas, remains on the loose this morning.  Saturday evening in the small town of Bellefonte near Harrison, an assailant shot the storeowner of Unique Treasures twice as the owner fought off an attempted robbery.  Boone County Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that the storeowner identified his assailant as Phillip Ray Engles before a helicopter flew him to a Springfield, Missouri, hospital.  The hospital currently lists his condition as good.

Authorities believe the 27-year-old Engles is armed and dangerous and hiding out in the Boat Mountain area.  He is described as a white man, 5'9'', 176 pounds.  He has brown hair and brown eyes.  Hickman reports that they arrested 29-year-old Mandy Engles after they found her near an abandoned getaway vehicle while searching for Phillip Engles.  The sheriff said he anticipates charges to be filed against Mandy Engles soon and that Phillip Engles will face attempted capital murder, aggravated robbery and theft charges when they arrest him.

Anyone with information about Phillip Engles’ whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at 870-741-8404 or their local law enforcement agency.
