The city of Forsyth has a new finance officer.  The announcement was made at Monday night’s meeting of the Board of Aldermen that Angela Leist has accepted the post.  Mayor Mike Chipman says Leist has been the village manager in Merriam Woods since 1996…

Chipman says Leist is also a certified grant writer, which is important for cities which depend on grant revenues to fund projects.

In other business, some city employees will be getting pay raises.  Chipman says 18 employees are eligible for raises.  Eleven will receive one-thousand dollar raises in the coming year, with the others to see their pay increases the following year.

And the proposed sales tax for the Forsyth Fire Department is a step closer to going before the voters next spring.  Mayor Mike Chipman says there were no negative comments about the proposal during a public hearing Monday night…

The proposed tax of one quarter of one percent means an extra 25-cents for every 100 dollars spent in the city ofForsyth.
