The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department has awarded Crouse Construction Company, of Harrison, a contract totaling $120,630.00 to resurface 1.5 miles of County Road 10, four miles west of Highway 43, in Newton County.

The County Road project is funded through the State Aid Road Program established by the legislature and administered by the State Aid Division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.  This program provides approximately $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist counties with projects of their choosing on the county road system.

Newton County Judge Warren Campbell said work on the project could begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting.  Completion of the project is expected in the spring of 2013.
