A Skaggs pulmonary nurse is honored with the DAISY Award after being nominated by a patient who was inspired by the nurse’s ability and willingness to help solve a problem during a stressful time.

Teresa Hogan, RN was presented the award December 3 by Sheryl Tilus, Skaggs Chief Nursing Officer.  The nomination speaks of Teresa’s compassion, care and support for her patients. Teresa has been at Skaggs Regional Medical Center for 12 years and a pulmonary nurse at Skaggs for four years. One of her responsibilities in the pulmonary department is making sure her patients get the right medication at the right time.

The patient that nominated Teresa for the DAISY award recalls a specific time when Teresa was able to get her through a difficult time.  “NEVER had anyone cared enough to look out for her patients like that.” Teresa had a tremendous impact on her patient, and went the extra mile.

The not-for-profit DAISY foundation is based in California and was established by family members of a 33 year-old man who died in 1999 from complications from an autoimmune disease. The care he and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired the DAISY award, thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.

Nominate your nurse for going above and beyond. Nomination forms can be found atwww.skaggs.net under the Patients and Visitors tab or throughout the hospitals and clinics.
