Bull Shoals City Council Agrees to 3% Raise for City Employees
Posted: Saturday, December 29, 2012
At a special meeting of the Bull Shoals City Council last night, the council members agreed to give a three percent raise to the fifteen city employees, including elected officials, that will go into effect January first of 2013. Bull Shoals Mayor Bruce Powell says the raise does not include city council members.
Also at last night's meeting, according to Powell, the City Council agreed to defer amending the 2012 budgets until bills affecting the budget were paid. The final item on last night's agenda was consideration of the Arkansas Energy Code ordinance which the city council agreed not to pass. Mayor Powell says at issue was the wording of the ordinance and that it was issued by the Energy Office of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and not the state legislature. Powell says other municipalities, including Gassville, have decided not to pass the ordinance and he will send a letter to the state advising them of the action of the city council.
