Boat Launch at Red Bank is Un-usable
Posted: Sunday, January 13, 2013
The boat launch ramp at the Corps of Engineer's park at Red Bank on Lake Norfork is un-useable due to low lake elevations. The Corps says there are alternate ramps available in that area of the lake at Panther Bay, Cranfield, Calamity and Gamaliel.
The lack of rainfall has caused Norfork and Bull Shoals Lakes to fall below their normal conservation pools. A Corps spokesperson said the lower than normal water level requires boaters to be even more watchful whenever they are launching their boats at the ramps. Also, the spokesperson said it's also advisable to navigate through the main channels of the lakes when boating in order to avoid running aground.
For further information on the status of recreation areas on Norfork or Bull Shoals, you can check the Corps's website at swl.usace.army.mil or call the Mountain Home Project Office at 425-2700, Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
