Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape reported the arrests of six men this week in connection with a series of residential and commercial burglaries that took place in December.
A search of residences in Newton and Boone counties December 17th uncovered items taken in the burglaries, along with drug paraphernalia. Taken into custody in Newton County were 29-year-old Clifton Baker, 25-year-old Justin Crabtree and 25-year-old Joshua Blanton, all of Jasper. Charges against the three include residential and commercial burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal mischief.
The same investigation led to the arrest of three other subjects in Boone County. Sheriff’s deputies and National Park Service rangers continue to investigate break-ins at Buffalo River National Park.
