A Taney County man has pleaded guilty to turning in false water samples from a wastewater treatment plant that dumped raw sewage into Table Rock Lake.
Sixty-three year old Bruce Morris entered the plea in Springfield federal court to a charge of making false statements in violation of the Clean Water Act.
The U-S Attorney’s office says Morris was working for Light Environmental in 2008 when the company operated the wastewater treatment facility for Landmarc Estates subdivision in Taney County. According to the charges, the facility discharged improperly treated wastewater into a roadside ditch, sending the raw materials downhill into Table Rock Lake.
Morris faces up to two years in federal prison and a fine of up to 250-thousand dollars. Sentencing will be set at a later date.
