Lindsay Standridge, a North Arkansas College Student from Dover, Arkansas was presented with an honor certificate and $100 check denoting her selection as the 2013 Emerging Scholar.
Family members in the Harrison area brought Lindsay to enroll at Northark where she is studying Psychology. Her career goal is to become a Substance Abuse Counselor and help others.
In addition to regular courses, Lindsay is enrolled in two honors classes this semester.
Instructors at the College nominate Emerging Scholars based on their academic performance, ability to meet their educational goals and exemplary character.
Candidates are then voted upon by faculty members to reach final selections.
“You are a delight to have in class,” Molly McCorkindale, an instructor told Standridge during the presentation. “You have a lot to offer the world as a scholar,” echoed Matt Hoven, another faculty member who nominated Lindsay. Pam Mathis, director of developmental education said Lindsay’s work ethic was “stellar”.
Dr. Gwen Gresham, executive vice president of learning at Northark said, “I am thinking you are exactly what North Arkansas College is all about. You will be an example to people you don’t even know yet. You represent the best of what we are doing at this college
