Officials with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department are looking at the possibility of a project to widen a 4-point-3 mile stretch of Highway 62 east of Berryville to five lanes.
The project is in the very early planning stages, with the potential environmental and human impact of the plan to be assessed by the department.
Area residents can participate in a public meeting for community feedback regarding the project. The informal, drop-in meeting is March 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Berryville.
If the 15-million dollar project moves forward, work would likely begin in 2015. The federal government would pay 80-percent of the cost.
