Western Taney County firefighters responded to the area of Songbird Road on East Highway 76 today on a report of smoke in the area. Firefighters found a shed fully involved in flames on Keys Lane. Crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, but the shed is a total loss.
Assistant Chief Jim Single says the fire started when wind spread flames from a control burn to dry leaves around the shed. Single reminds the public that even with the recent rain, the area is still in a drought and conditions are dry. He advises caution when burning, and advises against burning during high winds and low humidity.
