Sheriff Commends Neighbor for Holding Murder Suspect

Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader says an alert neighbor held two juveniles at gunpoint until deputies could arrive at a home on Trace Hollow Road in Lampe, where the victims of a double homicide were found.  The sheriff says the initial call sent deputies to the home for a report of a burglary in progress…

Seventy year old Paul Brooks and his 69-year old wife, Margaret, were found dead inside the home.  The two juvenile suspects are not from Missouri.  They had apparently been staying nearby illegally, but authorities don’t believe they knew the couple…

Rader says the suspects were not armed.  Paul and Margaret Brooks were from Michigan, but Rader says they had been living here recently, in the lake home of a family member.  Autopsies are set for Saturday in Columbia.
