Kimberling City Considers Birthday Plans, Liquor at Fish Fries

The Kimberling City Council Tuesday night got its first look at plans put forth by the city’s Economic Development Committee for the city’s 40th birthday celebration.

Some of the events proposed for the celebration include a swap meet weekend for boaters and fishermen, a fishing tournament, and a Tim McGraw concert June 23rd at Black Oak Amphitheater in Lampe.

The council took the committee’s recommendations under advisement until they find out the events’ cost to the city.

Representatives of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of the Cove Parish asked the city to OK the serving of alcohol at its Lenten fish fries.

The council did approve the church’s request. The church’s Lenten fish fries have taken place for more than two decades. The first one of the season is set for February 15th. The majority of the proceeds from the dinners go to the Southern Stone County Food Pantry.
