Tannerite is making its presence known in the Ozarks. Citizens in Stone County have been reporting loud explosions that have been, until now, unfounded. Southern Stone County Fire Chief David Gyger says a product called Tannerite or Kaboom are being used by gun enthusiasts for target practice:

Gyger says the substance is safe. He said you can try burning it or hitting it with a baseball bat and it will not explode. Only a high velocity bullet can activate the mixture, causing a reaction.
Bass Pro Shops in Branson does not offer the product, but Bass Pro Shops in Springfield does offer Kaboom. They are currently sold-out with no indication of when their shelves will be restocked.
