Bill Protecting Names of Concealed Handgun Permit Holders Moves Forward in Arkansas
Arkansas senators hope the state’s House will approve a measure that would keep the names of approximately 130,000 registered concealed handgun permit owners’ names private.
The state’s senators voted 24-9 Wednesday on a bill exempting the names of people with concealed carry permits from Arkansas’ Freedom of Information Act. That bill now heads for the House for approval.
State Senator Bruce Holland of Greenwood proposed the bill after a New York publication released the names of permit holders in that state days after the Newtown tragedy.
Governor Mike Beebe has stated his opposition to the bill.
