A Green Forest man died in a head-on collision with a tractor trailer rig Friday afternoon west of Green Forest.
Arkansas State Police report that Shannon Pharis, 52 years old, of Green Forest, was eastbound on Highway 62 around 2:20pm, driving a 2012 Chevy Silverado, when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with the westbound 2013 Peterbilt, being driven by Edward Ness of Greenbriar, Ar. A passenger in the 18-wheeler, Michelle Ness, 44, of Greenbriar was injured.
Edward Ness, 53, the driver of the big truck, was not injured. The 18-wheeler went through a fence and came to rest in a field on the south side of Hwy. 62. The accident scene was in the area known as Powell Mountain.
Traffic on Hwy. 62 between Green Forest and Berryville was tied up in both directions for quite a while. Green Forest Police, the Green Forest Fire Department, Berryville Fire Department, Arkansas State Police and County deputies all assisted at the scene.
