A suspect in the murders of Russell and Rebecca Porter has asked and received a change-of-venue. By agreement, the trial for 68-year-old Robert Campbell will take place in Taney County, but the court will secure a jury from a county outside the Springfield broadcast media coverage area.
Another suspect in the case, 44-year-old Tony Friend, has also received a similar agreement.
Campbell, who is the uncle of Russell Porter, pled not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder. He posted $500,000 bond out of the Taney County Jail last month. Campbell’s next court appearance is May 16th.
Also facing murder charges are Wendy Friend, Dusty Hicks, and Phillip Friend. The bodies of Russell and Rebecca Porter of Willard were found in a remote area off Protem-Cedarcreek Road in Taney County in July 2011.
