Missouri Highway patrol identified the driver as 74-year old Virgil Miles. His passenger is 46-year old Lisa Miles. Both are from Omaha, Arkansas.
According to the report, Virgil pulled onto the shoulder and passed out. He accelerated his pickup, striking the guardrail. The vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck several trees and overturned. He and his passenger remain in serious condition at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Western Taney County Firefighters and Taney County Ambulance District EMS crews responded to a one vehicle crash on U-S 65 south of Hollister in the northbound lane near mile marker 7, shortly after 10:30 this (Wednesday) morning.
Fire Chief Chris Berndt says rescue workers worked to free a male driver and female passenger from the crashed pickup:
Berndt says Lifeline Helicopter was called to transport the driver, because he had life threatening injuries. A decision was made to reroute the helicopter to Cox Medical Center in Branson to await the arrival of the injured man, who was transported by TCAD.
The female passenger was extricated from the pickup and transported by ambulance to a Springfield area hospital in serious condition.
The pickup had Arkansas license plates. Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
