24-year old Christina Scroggin of Mountain Home appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court today and pleaded not guilty to the murder of 24-year old Raul Turrieta. Her case was continued and she will appear before judge Putman on April 11th.
On Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to 244 County Road 343 in Mountain Home at 5:30 a.m. after Scroggin reportedly told the 911 dispatcher that she thought she killed someone. Turrieta’s body was found deceased in the trunk of his vehicle. The Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office says he suffered 3 gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
Baxter County Sheriff’s Investigators are awaiting ballistic results on a .38 caliber revolver they recovered from the vehicle to determine if it’s the same weapon that killed Turrieta.
Investigators are trying to piece together the evidence to determine the location of the original crime scene and the circumstances surrounding the death.
Scroggin remains in the Baxter County Detention Center on 1-million dollars bond.
