Police are investigating what caused a Forsyth woman to crash into the side of a Springfield area apartment building Thursday, killing the passenger.

Springfield police say Witnesses indicate the car traveled through the Target parking lot at a high rate of speed before impacting the building at 1717 East Primrose.

Sixty-four-year-old Mollie Poindexter of Forsyth died from injuries she received from the crash.  The driver, 72-year-old Sharon Bishop-Frandsen, also of Forsyth, is in stable condition at a Springfield area hospital.

The apartment was occupied by a 30-year-old tenant, who suffered minor injuries and was treated and released by medical personnel.
