LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A new report ranks Arkansas 12th worst in the nation in the number of older citizens who've gotten a pneumonia shot.

The report by the Trust for America's Health, the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation says 35.8 percent of Arkansans 65 and older have not received the vaccine. The report says the national average is 33.1 percent going without the shot.

The vaccine helps prevent streptococcus. Streptococcus pneumonia accounts for about 25 to 30 percent of pneumonias and is the only pneumonia for which there is a vaccine.
