Taneycomo Bridge Art Exhibit March 20-25

Posted: Monday, March 08, 2010

Branson High School painting and photography students have taken on a project that focuses on one of Branson’s most historical landmarks -- the Taneycomo Bridge. The bridge stretches over Lake Taneycomo and was constructed in 1931.

Through the eyes and talents of the student artists, the bridge will have its original architectural design and history preserved through paintings and photographs in a community art exhibit.

The students have captured the last unobstructed view of the bridge. A new bridge will be constructed alongside the original bridge which will undergo extensive renovation through 2011.

Paintings and photographs of the bridge will be featured in an exhibit to be held March 20th-25th at the Branson Convention Center. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. A community reception for the exhibit is scheduled March 23rd from 6-8 p.m.

Original, hand-processed black and white photographs and T-shirts, with the image of the bridge, will be on sale throughout the exhibit for $10 each. All proceeds from sales will be used to create a permanent art gallery at the High School. The students hope to raise $5,000 for the gallery.

Robert Langford, BHS art instructor, is coordinating the event.
