Neoma Parker, age 98, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Hillcrest Home in Harrison. The daughter of Albert and Josephine (Atchley) Trotter was born at Gaither, Arkansas on November 9, 1914.
She was a lifelong resident of Boone County. She married Ross A. Parker, Sr. December 24, 1938, and they were married for 66 years until his death March 28, 2005.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church and previously a member of Gaither Baptist Church. She was a long-time member of Gaither Extension Homemakers Club and had been a volunteer quilter at RSVP as long as her health permitted. Before retirement, Neoma was employed at Levi Strauss and Dogpatch U.S.A. She enjoyed gardening, making quilts, and cooking for her family and friends, as well as watching sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Edith Trotter and Bonnie Parker; one brother, J. A. Trotter; and her special friend and nursing home roommate, Gladys Pledger.
Neoma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Johnette Parke,r of Harrison; her granddaughter, Kelli Kerr and her husband Adam, of Leawood, Kansas; her grandson, Brent Parker and his wife Kelly, of Fayetteville; and twin great-grandchildren, Benton Ross and Brooklyn Grace Kerr of Leawood, Kansas. Neoma is also survived by devoted nieces and nephews, Billy and Carleta Parker; Bobby and Charlotte Parker and family; and Alice Crain; as well as her special friend and neighbor, Lona Rowlett.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held10:00 AM, Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Reverend Robert Shaddox officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
