Billie Jean Smith, 76 of Alpena passed away January 22, 2013 at Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on August 4, 1936; at Alpena, Arkansas to Sidney & Georgia Marley Brown. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by both parents and her brother James Sidney Brown, Jr.
Billie was born and lived in Alpena, in her later years she split her time living in Alpena and Conway, AR; Graduated from Alpena High School in 1954. She married Russell D. Smith on November 25, 1954 in Berryville, AR. She was a member of the Alpena United Methodist Church and a member of the Democratic Party, where she campaigned for Bill Clinton. Billie was also a member of the National Organization of Women. She kept account records for her husband’s business; later years started her own floral design business. Mrs. Smith loved going on outings with family and friends: concerts, plays, movies and shopping. She loved her family, loved life and lived it to its fullest.
She is survived by her loving husband Russell D. Smith and Daughters; Jennifer Smith Siemiller and Lori Smith. She is also survived by one Grandson Gregory Siemiller and Great-Grandchildren; Mahala Siemiller, Tripp Siemiller and Hannah Morrison.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. Reverend Jamie Alexander will be officiating. Interment will be at Alpena Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Gregory Siemiller, Larry Siemiller, Gary Smith, Mike Smith, Kevin Smith, Del Smith, Burl Smith and Rick Hart.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tripp Siemiller and John Hart
