Irene Binam-Dickens, age 89, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, Otober 20, 2012, at Bristol Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center in Harrison. She was born September 4, 1923, in Denver, Arkansas, the son of Aaron and Rose Ellen (Goodnight) Terherst. Along with her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her first husband of forty nine years, Eli Binam; her second husband of seventeen years, Alvin Dickens; three brothers; and three sisters.
Irene was a member of Batavia Assembly of God Church. She was an LPN and had worked as office nurse for Dr. Oliver Wallace in Green Forest, Arkansas and at area hospitals and nursing homes.
Irene is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Betty Binam of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Alvin and Frances Binam of Harrison, and Jim and Julie Binam of Conway, Arkansas; her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Bill Kautz, of Booneville, Arkansas; her step-daughter and her husband, Bernita and Sonny Szitar, of Leslie, Arkansas; her step-son and his wife, Wayne and Jean Dickens, of Harrison; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Irene is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Gilma Terherst, of California; her sisters-in-law, Cleta Terherst and Jeanette Terherst, both of California; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend and neighbor, Helen McPearson, of Harrison.
Visitation was Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Funeral service was Monday, October 22, 2012, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Tollie Sutterfield and Bro. Glenn Crenshaw officiating.
Pallbearers were Steve Binam, Kevin Binam, Tyler Binam, Drew Binam, Rick Brown, Jason Taylor and Bill Kautz.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Bristol Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center and her guardian angel, James Lang.
Interment was is Maplewood Cemetery.
