Richard Afton Holland, age 82, of Harrison, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012, at the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. He was born December 23, 1929, in Pruitt, Arkansas, the son of Ellis Law and Pearl Willamina (McGowan) Holland. Along with his parents, Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his infant sister.

Richard was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a mechanic. Richard was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his ham radio and his call number was WA5RVC.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Melba Lea (Barnes) Holland, of the home; his sons, David Holland of Omaha, Arkansas and Robert Holland of Fairbanks, Alaska; his daughters, Rosemary Watabe and Juanita Sue Thalacker, both of Fairbanks, Alaska; seven grandchildren; and many dear friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:30 PM, Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Maplewood Cemetery, Harrison, Arkansas.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
